Ozone therapy

WHAT IS OZONE?

The oxygen that is vital to life has two oxygen atoms together: O2. Ozone gas is a very reactive molecule with three oxygen atoms (O3) arraigned together. With the additional oxygen atom, ozone is a supercharged molecule able to react with many different substances.

Medical use of ozone gas can be traced back to Germany in the 1950’s. Now, Ozone Therapy has become a common treatment in most European nations and is gaining popularity in America.

isn’t ozone toxic?

Ozone is a naturally occurring molecule and our bodies make small amounts of it. Pure medical grade ozone, when used according to medical guidelines, is very safe. However, if medical guidelines are not followed, ozone gas can be harmful to the lungs if inhaled at high concentration.

Medical ozone should only be used by trained providers. A trained professional understands which dosage of Ozone gas can be used.

Ozone’s Medical Use?

Ozone therapy should only be used by those who have undergone extensive training and certification. Major Autohemotherapy (MAH) is the most common form of Ozone Therapy. This procedure involves drawing the patients blood, mixing the blood with ozone gas, and returning the mixture into the body. No air/gas is ever directly entering the body. DIV (direct IV) administration is dangerous and can result in serious compilations.

conditions Commonly treated with Ozone

General immune support

Autoimmune diseases

Chronic disease or infections (hepatitis-C, herpes, Lyme, EBV, and AIDS)

Heart disease

Chronic fatigue syndrome

Preventive medicine / Anti-aging

Fibromyalgia

It is important to realize that ozone therapy is not considered a cure for an above conditions. Although it may be beneficial to support treatments it should be combined with a holistic plan and overseen by a medical provider trained in Ozone Therapy. The FDA has not evaluated the safety or efficacy of Major Autohemotherapy (MAH).

MEDICAL PROPERTIES OF OZONE

The American Academy of Ozontherapy reports 5 properties for the immune system:

  1. Immune stimulator: Ozone therapy alters the immune system by forcing white blood cells to release more messenger molecules “cytokines.” These molecules regulate how our body reacts to the environment. Proposed benefits are

  2. Increased oxygen binding: Ozone stimulates increased uptake of oxygen by stimulating the enzyme diphosphoglycerate (DPG). DPG enables the release of oxygen from the hemoglobin molecule so that it can be taken up into the cell.In the absence of an adequate amount of DPG, our cells become starved for oxygen. This is a common problem in diabetics.

  3. Increases circulation: By increasing oxygen binding potential, ozone is able to This effect enables more of the oxygen carrying hemoglobin to reach the capillaries where ultimately the cells will receive more of the oxygen they require. Many patients with chronic inflammatory conditions have impaired circulation.

  4. Increased antioxidant capacity: Ozone increases our body’s antioxidant protection, by making the body up regulate the enzymes associated with oxidative damage.

  5. Mitochondrial stimulant. By stimulating the anti-oxidant pathways within the body and the capacity to The fundamental underlying cause behind all degenerative disease from diabetes to heart disease to cancer is decreased mitochondrial energy production. Ozone can often correct this problem.
